The Power is Within YOU.

There is so much power in the act of changing up your day by doing just ONE thing differently. Especially something we typically resist. If we can reconnect with our inner resource and our ability to move through our personal resistance, one moment at a time, the trajectory of our life changes. The moment we Show Up in Life and do something for ourselves or for someone else, our internal system shifts; change happen on a cellular level. We Change as a Whole.

Today, Mom did just this… She showed up for Mom even though initially, she was not stoked about it. It’s these moments that give us a sense of strength and accomplishment. Our personal journey is unique to our own being and our life trajectory varies for each and every one of us, but the success behind every action and every moment of effort is all the same. It’s challenging, strenuous, thoughts of uncertainty, resistance and/or self-doubt may arise amongst many other thoughts and behaviors but when we show up for ourselves, it feels good, regardless of the intensity and the duration of the task. It was a challenge, it was something out of the norm and You DID IT— and THAT’s A WIN!

We often forget to recognize the power of these micro moments in life, when in reality, it’s these moments that truly bring value and meaning. After all, it’s the micro that makes up the macro and without the micro, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Mom did this today— she changed up her life trajectory by doing something in the moment that would make her future self happy— despite the initial resistance. She made the choice to do something different today.

Despite the effort it requires, Mom made the choice to transfer from the bed to her chair and into the living room. This choice was an accomplishment. This is a Win! However, not only did she put forth the effort for this transition, she said “Ok” to a stroll outside. Mom felt the sunlight against her skin, she noticed plant life and houses throughout the neighborhood, she greeted a neighbor who shared the sidewalk, and navigated the streets mindfully. She was 100% disconnected from any electronic device and was present with what was arising in the moment. We had a meaningful conversation and found lots of humor throughout our dialogue from her use of descriptive words such as ‘thingy ma jig’ to the random but hilarious comments she throws out at you. Mom is hilarious. She is kind and generous and people love her. I saw this today and I know she felt it. She was Mom.

And you know what, the initial plan was to take a stroll to the stop sign and back— but guess what, we went over a mile— and could have done more. Showing up is the hardest part but once you get through the initial step (physically and/or mentally), everything else just feels a little easier and a ripple effect transpires. What started off with a transitioning from bedroom to the living room resulted

  • into a 45 minute stroll,

  • the welcoming of sunlight into her house (I think we need to open the blinds- again, another out of the norm moment),

  • to saying she felt energized and wanted to remain in the living room versus returning to bed.

  • Mindful Moments of Reflection: When asked about how being outdoors in the beautiful elements made her feel— she said ‘that made her feel alive..’ I’m not sure when the last time I heard Mom describe herself as feeling ‘energized or alive’. It’s been a long time.

This not only changed the trajectory of her life, it also changed the trajectory of everyone around her— myself, Dad and their 4-legged baby, Brandy. All moments of connection, positivity, good health and wellbeing.

When we reflect on moments such as this, ONE CHANGE IN ROUTINE— Life Happens and We Change. The wellness of her entire being, from feeling isolated and uninspired to feeling energized and connected.

Bottom Line: You have the Power to create change, one choice at a time. One moment at a time.

When in Doubt— Remember— DO SOMETHING NOW THAT WILL MAKE YOUR FUTURE SELF HAPPY.

I Love You Mom. I am Beyond Blessed to be a part of your day today. Thank You for the Joyful Moments. Dad, Brandy and I Loved Every Moment!
